These Curious Meerkats Love Their Jack-O'-Lanterns; That's One Way to Celebrate Halloween
Halloween is a spooky occasion filled with candy, creepy costumes, and jack-o'-lanterns. But human beings aren't the only ones who like to celebrate this national pastime.
A family of meerkats at the Indianapolis Zoo situated in White River State Park showed that they, too, could get into the Halloween spirit.
On its YouTube account, the zoo observed that "everyone goes wild for pumpkin-flavored treats" during autumn — including meerkats.
"We placed iON cameras inside jack-o'-lanterns to capture this truly unique, up-close perspective as our meerkat mob devoured their special Halloween enrichment," continued the zoo.
With excitement equal to any child who goes trick-or-treating, the loveable rodents scamper about the carved pumpkins, scratching and biting away at the large gourds.
A strategically placed hole to the side of the smiling orange heads allows the critters access to the interiors, and the cats sniff away at the cameras positioned inside.
So enjoy the little tikes as they exuberantly go about their combination of treat and entertainment.
