These 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' PC Screenshots Are 'Beautiful'

With just a couple more days before "Rise of the Tomb Raider" releases to the PC, fans who can't wait to get their hands on the game may just have to settle with screenshots of the title.

The images (below) were taken by DeadEndThrills.com, a community of video game enthusiasts who enjoy taking screenshots. 

While the images are great to look at, gamers should take note that these were taken at a custom resolution and with the use of external tools. Still, these should give gamers an idea of how the game looks like on the PC.

Here are the screenshot details:

  • Rendering: Custom resolutions @ ~40megapixel
  • Antialiasing: Two-pass colour-based offline AA
  • Methods: Free camera w/ FOV and roll
  • In-engine tonemapping and depth of field control
  • Tools: Debug build supplied by Crystal Dynamics, Assembly hacks for Aspect ratio correction, SRWE for high-resolution hotsampling

Developer Crystal Dynamics had previously said that the PC version will be the "ultimate port" as "Rise of the Tomb Raider" on PC will support both Nvidia's HBAO+ and AMD's TressFX technology.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider's" PC version will release on Thursday, Jan. 28. The title will include the newly released Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch DLC when it launches.

Gamers should have the following minimum system requirements:

  • Minimum OS: Windows 7 64bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 650 2GB or AMD HD7770 2GB
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • HD Space: 25 GB
  • DirectX: DirectX 11
  • Input: Mouse + Keyboard

The game was initially launched as an Xbox One exclusive. Meanwhile, Sony's PlayStation 4 owners might need to extend their patience as "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is set to release to the console later this year.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" follows protagonist Lara Croft one year after the prequel as she looks for answers to her supernatural Yamatai experience, which will lead to the search for the lost city of Kitezh.
