Third Day Releases Lyric Video for 'Victorious,' Band Prepares to Launch New Worship Album 'Lead Us Back'
Multi-platinum band Third Day debuted the lyric video for the song "Victorious" on Tuesday, just weeks before the release of the group's new album.
"Victorious" is the second track off Third Day's forthcoming album, "Lead Us Back," to be released next month. The new song features acoustic guitar, haunting piano rifts and powerful vocals by the group's Mac Powell. The lead vocalist told The Christian Post that "Victorious" was among his favorite songs due to a personal experience with it.
"There is a song on the album called 'Victorious' - I heard a sermon about God being victorious in battle, whether on the field in the Old Testament times or in ourselves with feelings, emotion, and sin and more of a mental thing," Powell said. "God is victorious and helps us become victorious. So that song for me helps me as a believer, that idea carried on onto that song and on the album, and I love singing it."
The singer also cited how the track engages him as well as it does the audience.
"When you write a song for worship and you enjoy the piece as well, that's a great place to be," Powell explained. "Even at rehearsal, I was having church onstage singing this song. When you make an album for other people for God's glory, for us to take part in that, it's a great place to be and a great feeling."
Lyrics to "Victorious" include: "In all the heavens there is one who conquered death alone and brought our freedom / the throne will last throughout all time, let all then nations bow and bring you praise / victorious, you reign victorious, over sin, over death, over all, over us."
Meanwhile, Third Day is comprised of Mac Powell, David Carr and Mark Lee. The Grammy, American Music and Dove Award winning band has performed for audiences reaching into the millions all around the world. Third Day has appeared on "The Tonight Show," "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," "60 Minutes," and ABC's "Nightline."
"Lead Us Back" hits stores everywhere on March 3, which will also see Third Day performing at New York City's Beacon Theater. Watch the video for "Victorious" here.
