'This Is Us' Season 2 Spoilers: The Big Three Bonds Together In Midseason Premiere
The grown-up Pearson kids will be reunited in the midseason premiere of "This Is Us" season 2 titled "The Fifth Wheel," based on the promo photos released by NBC.
The first look from the winter premiere showed that the adult children of Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) will be in one place after some time apart. The three looks happy in the picture, in spite of all the challenges that they went through during the first half of the season where Kate (Chrissy Metz) suffered from a miscarriage, Kevin (Justin Hartley) was arrested for DUI, and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) lost his foster daughter Deja (Lyric Ross).
But it seemed like the light moment between the Big Three will come after an intense scene involving them and their mother. In an interview with Deadline, series showrunner Dan Fogelman revealed that there will be a 12-minute intense scene between Rebecca and her children where they will deal with the aftermath of Kevin's legal trouble.
"They just go at it in an interesting way that I had to call of them into my office because there's some really serious acting going on," Fogelman stated. "We find Kevin in rehab, and the family has arrived to hash things out in a therapy session. It's very loaded."
Aside from the present photo of the Big Three, several flashback photos were also released. It includes the one where Jack and Kate were seen in an ice cream shop, and another photo of the father-and-daughter duo having a touching moment at the woods. Rebecca and Randall were also spotted reading books at a park, while Kevin was reading a Batman comic book in a separate picture.
Fans should also expect to finally get the answers regarding Jack's death in the upcoming episodes of "This Is Us" season 2. In the early half of the season, the show implied that the Pearson patriarch might have died in a fire, but it was not clear if it really was the reason for his passing.
NBC will air the midseason premiere of "This Is Us" season 2 on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 9 p.m. EDT.
