This week marks the anniversary of when televangelist and megachurch Pastor Creflo Dollar was arrested and charged with simple battery after a fight with one of his teenaged daughters.

Dollar, who leads the nondenominational World Changers Church International based in College Park, Georgia, was accused of physically attacking his then 15-year-old daughter over an argument about whether she could go to a party.

His then 19-year-old daughter had claimed that she saw him "put both hands around her sister's neck and [choke] her for about five seconds," then he allegedly slapped her younger sister in the face and threw her to the floor.

For his part, Dollar denied the accusations and, after agreeing to take anger management coursers, the charges against him were dropped in 2013.

"As a father I love my children and I always have their best interest at heart at all times, and I would never use my hand to ever cause bodily harm to my children," Dollar said in a statement shortly after the arrest, through his attorney, Nikki Bonner.

“The facts in this case will be handled privately to further protect my children. My family thanks you for your prayers and continued support.”
