Each week brings the anniversaries of great milestones, horrid tragedies, amazing triumphs, and everything in between.

Here are just a few things that happened this week, Dec. 2-8, in Church history. They include the execution of Christian abolitionist John Brown, the birth of a notable English missionary to China, and a ceremony in which the heads of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches lifted each other’s excommunications.
