Thomas Beatie on Children: 'Pregnant Man' Wants More Babies With New Girlfriend (Photo)

Thomas Beatie is keen to have more children with his new girlfriend, however, he has said he does not know which of them would carry the next baby.

Beatie, 38, stoked huge controversy four years ago when he became known in media outlets as the "Pregnant Man" and gave birth when he was still with his ex-wife Nancy Beatie, who was unable to conceive.

Three children later their marriage fell apart and they split, with Beatie going on to begin dating their daycare director, Amber Nichols. He now insists that he wants more children, but has not decided who would carry the baby yet.

"Hypothetically we have talked about starting a family together," the "Pregnant Man" said to Anderson Cooper recently.

"Yes, the surgeon highly advises against it, yeah, I might bust a stitch or something," he added.

Beatie has been a transgender now for 15 years, but has only just recently had his full sex change operation earlier this year. Despite the extent of the operations he has decided to keep his womb to allow the option to carry a child.

Amber also has said that she would like a child of her own, but insists "Not today, in the future."

Beatie has said, "We would have to check out our fertility options. Right now we have some of the same sperm used with the three children that I've had. We have two vials left at California Bank and there's a clinic in San Francisco that we might seek advice from."

Beatie also spoke to Anderson Cooper about his split from his wife, Nancy: "It's been a process. We physically separated back in March when I filed for separation and there was a protective order but basically I didn't wear my wedding ring for a year prior to that."

Beatie has maintained sole custody of their children for now but the ex-couple share parenting time between them.

Recently an Arizona judge disputed the fact that Beatie was legally a man, potentially making things even more complicated for him. But Beatie has said he would fight so that his marriage would not be nullified.

"It did happen and I was married to Nancy for almost 10 years, we paid taxes, we bought and sold homes, we started a family together and I want that to be validated."
