'Thor 3' Movie Release Date, Plot Rumors: Loki to Bring About Asgard's Destruction?
It has been reported that Marvel has greenlighted a third installment of the "Thor" movies. Though no release date has been announced, it has been confirmed that the screenwriters have already been hired, and one of them is Marvel's former senior vice president for production and development, Craig Kyle. Kyle will be penning the script together with Christopher Yost, whose previous work includes "Thor: The Dark World."
In an exclusive interview with Collider.com in July, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige shared a few details about the current status of "Thor 3" and another Marvel project, "Captain America 3."
"Both in development, both in the works. Cap [Captain America] has already been announced, so that's up first. That's in a further stage. 'Thor' is being outlined right now, so both in the works," said Feige.
According to Movie Pilot, the plot of "Thor 3" could revolve around Asgard coming to an end because of Thor being a part of the "apocalyptic comic book story of Ragnarok."
Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, has mentioned the Ragnarok plot is a recent interview as well.
"I think there are very interesting things that happen. In the mythology, when you get to Ragnarok, which is 'the end of all things', it's not the end of the world … it's the end of time, and the universe, and space. And I think, if I am correct, Loki essentially sets that in motion. And his motivation for doing so is intriguing and he almost becomes the incarnation of chaos, in a way," the actor said.
Fans can expect Chris Hemsworth to be back to reprise his role as Thor. Hiddleston and Natalie Portman are reported to be back for the latest installment in the "Thor" movie franchise.
