'Thor: Ragnarok' Release Date, Plot and Cast News: Tom Hiddleston Drops Hints About Film's Direction, Teases Hilarious Sequel
Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in "Thor: The Dark World," recently dropped some vague hints about where "Thor: Ragnarok" is headed. The actor is set to reprise his villainous role in the upcoming sequel.
Towards the end of the first "Thor" movie, the people of Asgard did not know that Loki had already taken the place of his father after dispatching him. Loki was able to seize the throne by disguising as his father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins).
The end of the movie also saw Thor (Chris Hemsworth) return to earth to forge an alliance with the other Avengers in fighting Ultron. Interestingly, he also appeared in the post-credit scene of "Doctor Strange," where the Sorcerer Supreme met with the God of Thunder to help him look for his missing father and brother.

In a recent interview with Fandango while promoting his upcoming film, "Kong: Skull Island," Hiddleston talked about what fans should expect from his character in the "Thor" sequel.
"At the end of 'The Dark World,' Loki is on the throne. At the beginning of 'Ragnarok,' Thor has a few questions and Loki is endearingly enigmatic about providing answers," he told the publication.
Hiddleston went on to tease that "Thor: Ragnarok" will be Hemsworth's funniest portrayal of his character just yet. "I can confidently say this will be the funniest depiction of the character of Thor that you've ever seen. I personally have known for almost 10 years that Chris Hemsworth is hilarious. I think this go-round will be his chance," he said.
The official synopsis for "Thor: Ragnarok" reveals that Thor will deal with a new threat, the ruthless Hela, as he races against time to return to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of the Asgardian civilization.
