Thousands to Join Live Taping of Gospel Superfest in New York
Hollywood A-List stars, Vivica A. Fox and Vanessa Williams, lend their entertainment weight to the popular gospel entertainment nationally televised show.
NEW YORK – Hollywood’s Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams, and Host Clifton Davis will join approximately 7,000 people for the live taping of Gospel Superfest-New York 2 this weekend.
The nationally televised gospel music extravaganza will be held this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29, at the Brooklyn megachurch, the Christian Cultural Center. Proceeds will benefit hurricane victims.
“Attendees will experience Gospel meets Broadway," says Executive Producer Dr. Bobby Cartwright, Jr. "Gospel Superfest will have an entertainment feel, but it is ministry. And it is God's word through song."
One of the most widely distributed gospel music TV programs in the United States, Gospel Superfest has extended its reach to 93 percent of all U.S. TV households since last year, according to Nielson Media Research.
The three-hour nightly recording sessions blend popular gospel music with dance and live theater. The show is produced and managed by Ohio-based United Television, LLC.
This year’s line-up features over 40 urban, cutting edge gospel artists, such as Tonex, Shirley Murdock, Kelly Price, Karen Clark Sheard, Kiera “Ki Ki” Sheard, Hezekiah Walker & LFC, Tye Tribbett and GA, Gary Anglin, Kim Burrell, Byron Cage, Kurt Carr Singers, Rizen, Dottie Peoples, Dr. Charles Hayes & The Warriors, Witness, Shekinah Glory, Lori Perry, The Williams Brothers, Natalie Wilson & SOP, Rev. Timothy Wright & The New York Fellowship Mass Choir, and many others.
The extravaganza will also include an annual talent show showcasing new artists. It produced artists such as 2002 participant Lisa McClendon and last year’s winner Cynthia Turner and Heartspeak.
Clifton Davis, who has been with the show now for six years, hails from NBC’s "Amen." Fox is co-star and executive producer of Lifetime Television's "Missing," and Williams produces Showtime's "Soul Food: The Series."
Taping begins Friday at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and the Christian Cultural Center Bookstore during normal business hours.
