Tia and Tamera Talk Surviving Being Child Stars
Tamera Mowry-Housley and Tia Mowry-Hardrict, Christian actresses and twin sisters, recently revealed how they were able to overcome many temptations in Hollywood as child stars.
Mowry-Hardrict, 35, recently explained how having her sister by her side as 14-year-old actresses who began their careers on the set of "Sister Sister" helped her.
"What was really great was, I'm there with my sister. That support system is right there," Mowry-Hardrict explained on "Access Hollywood." "I'm going through the same things that she's going through…the trials, the tribulations, everything."
Now, both of the twin actresses are married with infant and toddler sons. Mowry-Housley spoke about what it would take to parent a child in show business.
"I think a lot of the times parents now are not into parenting their kids. They want to be their best friend/groupie," Mowry-Housley told "Access Hollywood." "They forget that they are kids. It doesn't matter how much money they have. It doesn't mean you stop parenting your child."
In the April 2013 issue of Essence magazine that is known as the "Career Success Guide Issue," Mowry-Housley spoke about being a new mother while prioritizing God in her life.
"I've always wanted to be a mother. I'm a nurturer, a girly girl," she told Essence. "I know my priorities: God, family and work … When those things are in check, the work will flow."
This is not the first time that Mowry has been vocal about her faith. Last February Mowry took to her personal website shared with sister Tia to let fans know about the blessings in life after witnessing a car accident.
"To have the gift of life is a blessing. Many die daily and if you are alive right now, then you have been given that gift," Mowry-Housley wrote on tiaandtameraofficial.com. "It's important we live it to the fullest and not get stuck or preoccupied with the worries, fears or pain. Instead, all we can do is trust in God and live every day He's given us to the very fullest."
