The comments were quickly condemned by golf officials.

"We consider the remarks of Steve Williams, as reported, entirely unacceptable in whatever context," said a statement from PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem and European Tour chief executive George O'Grady. "We are aware that he has apologized fully and we trust we will not hear remarks ever gain. Based on this, we consider the matter closed, and we will have no further comment."

Williams’ new boss also condemned the remarks.

"I don't think anyone condones racism in sport or anything," Scott said.

Williams has issued an apology for the remarks, according to reports.

The caddie will not be fined or disciplined by the PGA for his remarks, according to reports. He is slated to work with Scott in Australia as the golfers continue touring across the world.

"I don't see it being an issue moving forward," Scott said. "I think from my side of things and my teams, the matter has been put to bed. I've got nothing more to talk about it with anyone. So I'm moving on."
