Tila Tequila Coverts to Judaism

Internet and reality star Tila Tequila has announced she is converting to Judaism and promises it is not for attention.

TMZ reports Tila skipped Christmas this year in order to focus more on the conversion process that she is currently pursuing at a New York temple.

"As time passed, I started to become more and more fascinated with Kabbalah, the culture, and the way of life of the reform Judaism religion," she told the gossip site.

"I feel Orthodox is a little hardcore for me at this stage," she continued. "I just feel like the Jewish people have such a beautiful way about them, and I can't wait to officially be Jewish! Shabbat Shalom."

The 30-year-old Vietnamese-American who goes by the real name, Tila Nguyen, first rose to promise on Myspace where she gained the most popular title in April 2006.

In 2007, she filmed her reality show, "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila." The reality show was a bi-sexual dating show where 16 men and 16 women competed for Tila's love.

A prior report from The Christian Post in September 2007 started an online debate about the show.

"Men and women are made in the image of God, and our masculinity and femininity reflect something of his wonder and glory. So it's no wonder the enemy attacks this area and works to create confusion, brokenness and lust," said Jeff Johnston, gender issues analyst for Focus on the Family, according to Citizen Link, a publication of the pro-family organization.

"It's sad that MTV is cooperating so readily with our adversary. Especially since they just learned that what makes young men and women happy is time with their families and with God, not sexual brokenness and confusion," added Johnston, alluding to a survey by AP and MTV that revealed spending time with family makes America's young people happiest.

Tila, upset about the negative coverage about gays and lesbians, blogged on her Myspace about gay bashing and claimed God saved "her life."

Also, in 2007 she started experimenting with music, creating a cross between pop, hip-hop, and rock.

She has only released two EP's thus far, Sex (2007) and Stripper Friends (2010).

Tila has only appeared in one film, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry."
