Tim Tebow and Broncos Upset Carson Palmer In 28-24 Win Over Raiders
Respective quarterbacks Tim Tebow and Carson Palmer were the center of attention when the Denver Broncos defeated the Oakland Raiders 28-24 on Sunday.
The battle between Broncos’ Tebow and Raiders’ Palmer was in many ways anticipated even more so than their teams’ match. Both former Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks were looking to redeem themselves after terrible performances in their previous games.
Tebow was sacked seven times in the game against Detroit last Sunday, and also had two turnovers that became touchdowns for his opponents. The QB who recently inspired an internet craze assured his fans and himself that he wouldn’t be the same man this week.

"We'll bounce back and have a great week of practice and get ready to go try and get a win next week," Tebow said. "I'm just going to get up early and go to work and try to get better tomorrow and consistently improve and be the best person-slash-quarterback for this organization."
Palmer had a similar upset only five days after becoming a Raider and replacing their starting QB, Jason Campbell. After only three practices to learn the team’s plays, Palmer debuted two weeks ago with three intercepted passes in a 28-0 loss to Kansas City.
The Raiders’ QB has since said he feels comfortable with his receivers and the playbook.
“I am comfortable with the entire playbook, comfortable with the guys, comfortable with the snap count, where to stand in the huddle-every little bit that I’ve been around here, every second that I’ve had, I just learn more and more,” he said, according to NFL.com.
Although Palmer had 323 yards and one more touchdown pass than Tebow’s two TD passes and 124 yards, the Broncos’ team showed up to help their QB.
Tebow threw a 32-yard TD pass down the middle to WR Eric Decker, which advanced his team to a lead early in the match. Willis Mcgahee also contributed two touchdowns to his team’s victory.
Tebow, who has been receiving flack for his public Christian persona and a rough start to his starting position, said he refused to let speculation stop him from doing his job. Instead, the polarizing figure tweeted a scripture on the day of his game.
Tebow tweeted Philippians 4:6-7 which reads: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
