Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin in New York Excites Fans: Linbow Begins
Tim Tebow, the Christian quarterback who was traded to the New York Jets, will be playing in the same city as the New York Knicks' Christian starting point guard Jeremy Lin. After hearing the news, many fans reacted to having two of the most highly publicized religious athletes playing in the same city.
Some fans likened Tebow and Lin to heroic comic book figures Batman and Robin.
"Having Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin in New York City should clean up all the crime, hate and sinners in 2012," the fan wrote. "It'll be like Batman and Robin."
However others have spoken about the two Christian athletes being a sign of the times.
"Tebow and Jeremy Lin are going to clean up the streets of NY or be together for the Apocalypse," fans wrote.
Chris Palmer, the offensive coordinator of the American football NFL's Tennessee Titans, spoke about Lin letting Tebow sleep on his couch, the way he did in teammate Landry Field's residence.
"So awesome if Tim Tebow sleeps on Jeremy Lin's couch," Palmer tweeted.
Other athletes took notice of the two athletes coming together in the big city. Metta World Peace, Lakers forward, expressed his excitement for the pair being in New York.
"Tim Tebow! Jets #2013 champion," Peace tweeted. "I need a Jeremy Lin jersey and a Tim Tebow jersey."
Although many people joked about the two Christian athletes being in the same city, others created a new pun to represent the pair. The hashtag for Linbow, a combination of Tebow and Lin, was created by fans of the pair on Twitter.
"Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin = best friends," one fan questioned. "Either they will save our souls or throw the worst house parties ever. The choice is yours. #Linbow"
Another recognized that Linbow would have an impact on the city of New York.
"I'm in Linbow," the fan tweeted. "Gotham City into the Holy City of Sports."
