Tim Tebow News: Gets standing ovation from fans on his NFL return
On Sunday, Tim Tebow made his comeback to the NFL as fans went on their feet and showered the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback with applause.
Talking about the preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, Tebow said, "It was fun. Playing ball. I loved it. You want to be focused on footwork, reads, communication with everybody but also enjoy the moment. You won't always have it."
With 7 minutes left in the third quarter, Tebow entered the game that was graced by many fans at Lincoln Financial Field. Fans hovered over the quarterback as he touched the grass for the first time and finished off with a 36-10 win.
"I was thankful," Tebow said. "But I was also like, 'They [the Eagles offensive players] won't be able to hear me! We'll have to go [to a] silent [count].' It's very humbling. It definitely means a lot."
Late in the fourth quarter, Tebow earned another ovation as he ran to the right end and tackled Colts safety player, Winston Guy, for a 7-yard touchdown after a turnover left the Eagles ball into the Colts territory.
"It was fun. Seeing the end zone and fighting to get in — I've been blessed to have a few opportunities in my life," he said.
According to ESPN, Tebow had "mixed success." He was able to lead the Eagles to two field goals, including one that he acquired at the end of the first possession; however, on the other hand, he was taken down twice on third down, which ended in several fourth-quarter possessions.
Eagles coach Chip Kelly noted that Tebow's problems were acquired from his play with third-team offensive linemen and wide receivers. He argued that there was a different set of receivers when Tim went in and there were times the receiver ran the wrong route.
During the game, Tebow completed six of 12 passes for 69 yards and he was able to carry the ball into a touchdown and four times for 15 yards.
Following in the footsteps of Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley, Tebow was the Eagles' third quarterback.
