Tim Tebow Inspires Remake of '80s Hit 'St. Elmo's Fire'

Tim Tebow's heroics during the NFL season and postseason has inspired an ‘80s rock star to remake a former no. 1 hit.

The song, "St. Elmo's Fire," was remade by British rock singer John Parr into "Tim Tebow's Fire." The 1985 song soared to a no. 1 spot in the late 80's and a recent, improbable, wild card win against the Pittsburgh Steelers led John Parr to re-record the track with new lyrics.

Parr, who reportedly never met Tebow, recorded the track before Christmas, but released the song after the Broncos quarterback won his first playoff game. A video of "Tim Tebow's Fire" went viral and has over 300,000 views as of Thursday.

According to the Bleacher Report, Parr isn't just using the Tebow name and its popularity to make himself relevant again. Parr is reportedly a Denver resident and a Broncos' fan, legitimizing his fan status and the song as an unofficial Broncos' anthem.

The instrumentals are exactly the same, as are most of the lyrics. Only a few lines in the song were changed, including, "Gonna be a man in motion, these Broncos can't be beat."

"Tim Tebow's Fire" begins, saying, "Gotta keep your eye on the ball ... let it fly ... you've got to give it your all."

It continues, making references to the Denver Broncos and football gameplay.

"Play the game, you know you can’t quit until its won ... only just four downs to go … I can see a new horizon raising on the Mile High ... Take me where my future's lyin', Tim Tebow's Fire!"

Parr also make a reference to the popular internet meme Tebowing, in the line, "You know I'm out there, down on one knee."

Some younger Tim Tebow fans probably don't know who John Parr is, but the song is an example of Tebow is inspiring people in different ways.

According to an ABC News report, the song was manifested back when Tim Tebow was drafted in 2009.

Parr says he happened to be at ESPN the day Tebow signed with the Broncos. He said he was asked to play his hit song and change the some of the lyrics to include Tim Tebow's name, and he was given a Tebow t-shirt.

It was a joke at first, but Parr says he began to become inspired by the kind of man Tim Tebow is.

"But I started to look at the man, and really, really find him to be inspiring," Parr said. "I like people who believe in something, whether you're religious or not ... I love the fact that he's not afraid to be an individual."

Parr also plans to write a new song for Tebow, entitled "Just a Man," according to ABC News.

"Basically it's about, you're kind of out there in the storm, everybody's watching you," Parr said. "But he's just a man, that's what the song is about ... it's about leadership, isn't it, we look to someone to give us confidence."
