Tim Tebow News and Updates: Football Player Ready for NFL Comeback But Will Accept Quarterback Position Only
Tim Tebow is ready to prove that he is not a one-time bigtime and is rumored to be preparing for his NFL comeback after five years of absence. Tebow has been trying to find a fitting home at the NFL and almost landed with the Philadelphia Eagles during the final cut of the offseason but no development has been heard since.
To recall, Tebow became the arguably most polarizing football player when he burst into the scene with Denver Broncos and in process grew into an effective starting quarterback. The love-or-hate Tebow mentality spawned from both his evangelical zeal and athletic prowess.
NFL fanfare finally caught up with Tebow and he decided to quit in 2012 after Peyton Manning replaced him in the Broncos. Tebow then found New York but he was not able to utilize his hard-running style with the team because the Jets made him mostly a benchwarmer during the season.
Then came last week when NFL came abuzz after Tebow's statement that his career may not be over entirely. Tebow also hinted that he is still ready for an NFL comeback and open to another chance.
"You know I'm still young," Tebow said about his current condition and shape. "I still feel really good. So is that something that I feel like I can be an effective quarterback in the NFL? Yeah, I really do feel like I could be. But I think at the same time, there are a lot of other things that I'm doing that I love and that I'm blessed to do."a
The problem right now is that there is a blank wall in Tebow's career since his absence and the magic is starting to fizzle out. There are several squads who expressed willingness to give Tebow another shot but only as receiver tight-end or H-back. Tebow said publicly that he's only interested in playing offensive as quarterback and unwilling to accept "supporting" role.
The scenario is limiting Tebow's options because there are currently not many openings for backup quarterbacks in the NFL and the chances of landing a starting position is also remote. Another option is to directly negotiate with the Los Angeles Rams whose quarterback, Nick Foles, is still in the free agency.
Lastly, there are also rumors that Tebow began an exploratory talk with his old team Eagles and is trying to iron things up. The Eagles have not made any statement since if there are avenues indeed to re-sign Tebow.
