Tim Tebow on Bus With Wichita State Shockers: We Will Be Praying for You
No one seems to question Tim Tebow's capabilities when it comes to inspirational speeches. So it was with open arms that Wichita State University men's basketball team, fresh off an upset victory over top-seeded Gonzaga during NCAA's March Madness, granted the Jets QB his request to talk to the players on their bus.
"This you will remember for the rest of your lives," said Tebow, whose plane was refueling in Wichita when the Shockers' bus arrived Sunday. "Some of you might go play in the NBA and have great lives, but this is the time you will remember … these are the special times in your lives regardless of what you do in the future."
As the result of Wichita State's 76-70 victory, the Shockers advanced to the "Sweet 16" and are scheduled to play La Salle on Thursday. The Shockers went into the tournament as a No. 9 seed. The team made five consecutive 3-pointers in the win that ousted the West Region's top seed and the nation's No. 1 team during the regular season.
Tebow, whose future in the NFL and with the N.Y. Jets remains uncertain, appeared to be genuinely impressed with the team's upset win as he is seen giving his impromptu speech to the team in a video taken on the bus.
"I just want to say congrats. You are an inspiration to so many people. Always remember that. How you represent yourself and your character, how you represent your school, your family, your team, your brothers on the team, but also go out there and ball-out. Leave nothing on the court," he told the players.
He ended, "We all will be praying for you. God bless. You guys go out and do it, alright?"
Outside of the NFL it appears Tebow has no problem convincing media industry types that he has first-string drawing power.
TMZ reports in it's story headlined, "Tim Tebow – The Power of Christ Compels You... To Become a Movie Star," that producer David Dginguerian, "who makes a bunch of Jesus-y movies including the recent 'Crossroad,' just sent Tim's people a letter, saying the holy QB is the perfect candidate to star in his next film."
According to TMZ, Dginguerian wrote, "You are an inspiration to so many on the field and off, and I am certain that your passion will also come through in films."
The Christian Post contacted WME, the company that handles Tebow's public relations, and a representative said they currently have no comment about Dginguerian's offer.
