'Time After Time' Season 1 Episode 3 Spoilers: Search for Jack the Ripper Continues in 'Out of Time'
What happens when two guys from 1894 travel forward in time to 2017 in a cat-and-mouse chase through a future world that neither of them could've fully predicted nor could now even begin to understand? And how much chaos will this scenario bring when one of the said guys is revealed to have actually been the legendary serial killer, Jack the Ripper?
This is the opening premise of ABC's new sci-fi series that claims to be "not a time-travel show." "Time After Time" features a fictionalized H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) traveling in time to chase after his best friend John Stevenson (Josh Bowman), who also happens to be the infamous Jack the Ripper. Unassuming museum curator Jane Walker (Genesis Rodriguez) gets caught in the fray soon enough and, whether she may like it or not, will now be playing a significant role in the erstwhile friends' little game.
The quest to apprehend John continues in episode 3 titled "Out of Time." The official synopsis states that H.G. and Jane will struggle to repair the damaged time machine in time to stop Jack the Ripper, now known as The Key Killer in the present time, from killing again.

Meanwhile, H.G.'s great-great-granddaughter, Vanessa (Nicole Ari Parker) will be forced to decide whether or not to reveal her secrets to Griffin (Will Chase). Vanessa, who is now the runner of the museum, has always known about the time machine, because as she claimed, H.G. had previously visited her on it when she was in college.
The official trailer for the show's freshman season teases that H.G. and his team will have a hard time tracking John down. How will they be able to apprehend a killer who seems to have acclimated well and fast in his new environment? And how does the team plan to deal with him once he has been caught? Will H.G. and Jane be able to fix the time machine in time to save at least one potential victim in the next episode?
"Time After Time" season 1 episode 3 airs on Sunday, March 12 at 9 p.m. EST on the ABC Television Network.
