'Timeless' Season 2 Spoilers: Jiya Says Goodbye to Rufus
Jiya (Claudia Doumit) and Rufus' (Malcolm Barrett) relationship may be put on hold due to the former's strange sickness in the next installment of "Timeless."
One of the storylines to look forward to if there is going to be a second season for the series is Jiya and Rufus' romance. NBC has yet to announce any renewal plans for the show, but the fans are positive it will soon be given the green light to continue.
During last season's finale, Jiya was forced to drive the time ship because of Rufus' wounds. Because the boat was meant for only three people, she soon showed strange symptoms. Jiya's eyes turned bloodshot and she fainted several times. She also had seizures. Rufus brought her back to the present time and got a doctor to check on her.
In a previous interview with TVLine, showrunner Eric Kripke teased that something very mysterious is happening to Doumit's character. Jiya kept on seeing a vision of the Golden Gate Bridge in the present day and on the year it was constructed. She seemed to be trapped between two worlds. Jiya's condition may have a huge effect on her relationship with Rufus. They previously admitted that they have feelings for each other. Will Rufus lose her in the end?
"What does that mean, and what is happening to her, and what is she able to see, and how does that grow and change in Season 2 becomes part of the story. The only mild spoiler that I'll say about it is one of my all-time favorite books is Slaughterhouse-Five, [which is] about a man who becomes unstuck in time, and that was part of the inspiration for what is starting to happen to Jiya," Kripke said in the TVLine interview.
Meanwhile, Kripke has taken to social media to urge the fans to keep on supporting the show by live streaming the season 1 episodes. In a tweet, he wrote that they need help to convince NBC to renew "Timeless."
