'Timeless' Season 2: Rufus Gets Help From Wyatt and Lucy to Save Jiya

Jiya (Claudia Doumit) and Rufus' (Malcolm Barrett) romance will be in trouble in the next installment of "Timeless."

If NBC orders a renewal for the science fiction series, one of the expected storylines to look forward to is Jiya's and her strange reaction to time travel. Last season, she was forced to drive the time ship when Rufus was still injured. The contraption was only meant for three people. Soon enough, Jiya showed strange symptoms. She appeared to be trapped in-between two worlds, the past and the present. According to spoilers, her condition will continue to be a mystery and it will soon affect her relationship with Rufus.

In a previous interview with TVLine, showrunner Eric Kripke spoke about what they have in store for Jiya in season 2. He alluded that her condition is the same with the character in his favorite book, "Slaughterhouse-Five," where a man became "unstuck in time." If this happens to Jiya, she will suffer greatly and she may end up blaming Rufus for what happened to her. Rufus, on the other hand, will likely do anything to make her fine again. He needs Wyatt (Matt Lanter) and Lucy's (Abigail Spencer) help. The two have come to like and trust Jiya as they got to know her. They would not want to leave Rufus hanging at a time like this.

"There's something very mysterious happening to her. She was affected by being the fourth person in the machine, and what she ends up seeing is this flickering between the Golden Gate Bridge present day and then the year when it was being constructed. What does that mean, and what is happening to her, and what is she able to see, and how does that grow and change in Season 2 becomes part of the story," the EP teased, according to TVLine.

NBC has yet to announce its plans for "Timeless."
