'Timeless' Season 2 Spoilers: Rufus to Lose Jiya?
Jiya's (Claudia Doumit) future still remains a mystery in the next installment of "Timeless." Will she and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) have a happy ending amidst some problems?
NBC has yet to announce the renewal of the NBC series, but executive producer Eric Kripke is optimistic that they will be given the chance to continue Rufus, Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt's (Matt Lanter) story. The last finale had a lot of cliffhangers, with one involving Jiya and her strange condition after riding the time ship that was originally built for three. Jiya was forced to accompany Rufus, who was too weak because of his wound.
Previously, Kripke teased that the events in the time ship would turn the story in "a new direction." Jiya was not meant to time hop. Soon after piloting the boat, she began showing strange symptoms. Her eyes became bloodshot and she had several fainting spells. They soon changed to seizures. Rufus had to bring her back to the present and had her checked by the doctor.
Kripke said in a recent TVLine interview that they have big plans for Jiya. The showrunner revealed that the storyline would somehow be connected to the events that happened in his all-time favorite book, "Slaughterhouse-Five." In the novel, the protagonist is a man who becomes "unstuck in time." From how it looks like, Jiya will be trapped in-between the two worlds. This does not bode well on her relationship with Rufus. Fans who were happy to see them become a couple will be disappointed if they will not end up together.
"There's something very mysterious happening to her. She was affected by being the fourth person in the machine, and what she ends up seeing is this flickering between the Golden Gate Bridge present day and then the year when it was being constructed. What does that mean, and what is happening to her, and what is she able to see, and how does that grow and change in Season 2 becomes part of the story," the EP teased in the interview.
