Tips on How to Improve Password Security
With hackers easily able to crack passwords of users everywhere whether it be Facebook, cell phones, or emails, it is more important than ever to have a strong password on all of your accounts.
Some tips for creating a good password is first making it eight characters long. Another key is using four different types of characters such as upper and lower case, numbers and special characters.
Imperva, a tech website, said don't use slang, names, or any words from the dictionary.
Forbes gathered two lists of the worst passwords. The first list was put together by SplashData and the second is by Imperva who compiled a list out of 32 million hacked passwords.
Security expert, Bruce Schneir, told Forbes to turn a sentence into a password. He used the example of, "'Now I lay me down to sleep', might become nilmDOWN2s, a 10-character password that won't be found in any dictionary."
He also said it's alright to write down the password and keep it in your wallet whether it be the actual word or a hint. Schneir also stressed the importance of using multiple passwords for different accounts.
