'Tokyo 42' DLC Release: SMAC Games Director Talks 'Smaceshi's Castles' as Expansion and Complete Edition Offered for 20% Off

There is more to explore in the hit hyper-stylish isometric open-world shooter "Tokyo 42," thanks to its first downloadable content (DLC) called "Smaceshi's Castles."

In this expansion, players will have to take on the new villainous character Lord Smaceshi. Pronouncing his name will be a challenge.

In "Tokyo 42: Smaceshi's Castles," players will fight their way through "nefarious tests" to become the ultimate assassin. Stealth, combat and parkour skills will be the key to make this possible.

The DLC adds a total of 90 missions — 35 of those are combat-oriented and 25 of those will test the gamers' parkour skills. Ten of these will be stealth-based while the final 20 are bike races — spread across the three castles of Lord Smaceshi that offer unique gameplay experience for players. These missions will be short and sweet, but they will by no means be easy.

You will be judged on your speed and skill. Will you be the fastest, the deadliest? From crazy parkour puzzles to mid-air rocket launcher fights, Smaceshi's Castles pushes it to the limit.

To give players better chances of beating Lord Smaceshi, the "Tokyo 42: Smaceshi's Castles" DLC is adding four weapons at the players' disposal — the short bow, long bow, shuriken and shuriken fan.

As to what sort of challenges fans can expect in the DLC missions, this is what SMAC Games director Maciek Strychalski in an email to Kotaku:

So the basic setup is that there are three castles each representing a different side of gameplay. Combat, Stealth and Parkour. At these castles you'll find arenas where you might do a horde mode battle, target practice or a timed parkour challenge. You get rated on your performance. So it's speed or how far you get or how many times you're spotted. It's definitely much more basic than the core game and quite different. There isn't much of a narrative here, you earn medals which unlock challenges. So it's pure.

"Tokyo 42: Smaceshi's Castles" is being offered on Steam with 20 percent discount. Gamers who are looking to try the game out can take advantage of the 20 percent promo on the main game, the Complete Edition, which comes with the official soundtrack or a bundle that includes the DLC.
