Tom Cruise Divorce A 'Surprise'; Life is a 'Tragi-Comedy,' Says Actor
Tom Cruise has finally spoken out about his divorce from Katie Holmes. The actor termed the divorce a "surprise" that he was not prepared for.
"Life is a tragi-comedy," Cruise told German TV network ProSieben. "You need to have a sense of humor. I didn't expect [the divorce]," Cruise explained.
No one else expected it either, and Cruise suddenly found himself 50 and single for the first time in six years. Ever since, he has thrown himself into work, acting in a string of new releases and focusing on spending time with his daughter, Suri, which hasn't always been easy given his shooting schedule.
"I had an unbelievable amount of time to think about it; life is a challenge. To be 50 and to have experiences and to think you have a grip on everything, and then it hits you: 'This is it, what life can do to you,'" Cruise said.
To help get his mind off of things, Cruise has also started doing his own stunts for "Oblivion," which he greatly enjoyed.
"I have done white water rafting; I dipped, with the snowmobile on glaciers; drove around and climbed mountains," he explained.
Right now he is busy promoting his latest film, "Oblivion" and filming "All You Need is Kill" in London. Cruise has flown Suri over to London for some quality father-daughter time, but she remains a resident of New York City, where she lives with her mother, Katie Holmes.
Holmes has established a life for herself and her daughter in NYC and seems to be enjoying the single life. After starring in a Broadway play, Holmes decided to work on launching her own brand and also did some modeling for Ann Taylor.
"I've been a fan of Ann Taylor since I was a young girl. I grew up loving the clothes and am really excited to be the face of Ann Taylor for the spring season. I am thrilled to be part of a brand I believe in," Holmes told RealCelebrity.
