Tom Cruise Sings Bon Jovi in New 'Rock of Ages' Trailer (VIDEO)

In a newly released trailer for the upcoming film, "Rock of Ages," famed actor Tom Cruise channels none other than 1980's rock icon Bon Jovi.

In the extended video, Cruise, who plays rocker Stacee Jaxx, displays his vocal capacities on Bon Jovi's hit song "Wanted Dead or Alive."

"Rock of Ages" is based on a small town girl who moves to the city and falls in love at first sight, but faces several challenges along the way. The story first became famous as a Broadway rock/jukebox musical that told the story amid classic rock hits from the 1980's.

Choreographer and director Adam Shankman will bringing the show to the big screen. Other famous faces to appear in the film include actors and actresses Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The film will hit theaters mid-June.

It is unclear how critics will take to Cruise in the unconventional role, but before the movie even makes it to the silver screen, the actor is set to be honored with a prestigious award.

It was announced on Wednesday that Cruise would be honored with the Friars Club's Entertainment Icon Award.

Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, and Douglas Fairbanks are the only three other entertainers who have been honored by the elite club, which was founded in 1904 in New York City.

"Tom Cruise will join an elite group of only three other entertainment legends who have received our Icon Award, and whose work has make a global impact on our industry and changed the very face of cinema," Friars Club Abbot Jerry Lewis announced on Wednesday.
