Tom Hiddleston News: 'Loki' Willing to Share Screen with Doctor Strange
With more TV and movie character crossovers from one world to another, is there any possibility for Thor's Loki to cross to the world of Doctor Strange? While the possibility is uncertain, one thing remains sure; Tom Hiddleston is open to the idea of having his Loki character share the screen with Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange.
"In some hypothetical world, I don't quite know when, for Loki and Dr. Strange to share the same frame would be very exciting indeed. Because Benedict Cumberbatch is an old friend. So I would think it would be interesting to see who would get the upper hand," he told New York Daily News as reported by Heroic Hollywood.
Apart from the idea that the idea will make an interesting story, another reason why Hiddleston thinks that a Loki-Doctor Strange pairing is something to look forward to as it will give him a chance to work with a long-time friend Cumberbatch. The two actors first met on the set of Steven Spielberg's "War Horse." From then, the two have remained good friends. In fact, before Cumberbatch bagged the role of Doctor Strange, he even disclosed his desire to be part of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to Cumberbatch.
In the comic book incarnation of Doctor Strange, he is a doctor who meets an accident while performing a surgery. Frustrated that he isn't able to heal himself, he discovers the world of mystical powers that eventually earn him the reputation of being the Sorcerer Supreme. On the other hand, Loki is the adopted son of Asgardian King Odin and is dubbed as the God of Mischief.
As the world of the two DC characters both involve magical powers, bringing Loki to the world of Doctor Strange and vice versa can be possibly done. However, with the uncertainty on how long Hiddleston will continue playing the role of Loki after the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok," only time can tell if the chance of Doctor Strange and Loki sharing the same frame in a movie will become a reality.
"Truthfully, I do actually know at the moment how many more times I'm going to play Loki, but I'm not going to tell you. It's not personal it's just keeping it fresh for all paying customers to enjoy their films. And also I'm the God of mischief so it's my predisposition to play games," Hiddleton said in the interview with New York Daily News.
Cumberbatch's "Doctor Strange" hits the theaters on November 4 while Hiddleston will reprise his Loki character via "Thor: Ragnarok," which is slated for a Nov. 3, 2017 release.
