Singer Tom Petty died on Monday, leaving many fans and supporters worldwide grieving for the loss of yet another music icon.

Death

Petty was found lying unconscious in his Malibu home on Sunday. He was later rushed to a hospital where doctors managed to get his pulse back. Despite being placed on life support, doctors noticed that Petty was not showing signs of brain activity. TMZ reported he was eventually taken off life support and died in the hospital.

The late Rock 'n Roll Hall of Famer is survived by his two children — Adria Petty and Kimberly Violette Petty, whom he shared with his first spouse, Jane Benyo, and his wife of 16 years, Dana York.

Net Worth

Reports note that as of 2017, Petty's net worth is $95 million. This does not come as a huge surprise, considering the number of his avid supporters around the world. He has led his band to 17 Grammy nominations, thanks to his talent and onstage presence that is difficult to match.

It's worth noting that he was previously ranked as number 17 out of Forbes' list of 25 most highly paid musicians in the world. The media outlet also confirmed that Petty and his bandmates' annual income is around $35 million.

Final Tour

In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Petty revealed his plans to take a step back from the limelight and enjoy his private life. The singer finished his final tour with his band last November and he said it would possibly be his last time performing on stage.

"I'd be lying if I didn't say I was thinking this might be the last big one," he told the magazine. "We're all on the backside of our sixties. I have a granddaughter now I'd like to see as much as I can. I don't want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that's a lot of time."
