Tommy Marth Suicide: The Killers Sax Player Dies of Gunshot Wound
Tommy Marth, who played the saxophone on tours with The Killers, died of a gunshot wound to the head, the Clark County coroner's office confirmed Thursday. Marth was found dead Monday in Las Vegas in an apparent suicide. He was 33.
The Killers announced the death of Thomas Christian Marth on Twitter earlier this week, saying their prayers are with his family and that "there's a light missing in Las Vegas tonight."
The saxophone player was not a full member of the Las Vegas band but performed on two Killers albums, "Sam's Town" and "Day & Age." Marth also went on live tours with The Killers between 2008 and 2010.
The details surrounding Marth's death remain under investigation. Marth was found dead on April 23 in his backyard of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Some friends were shocked at his apparent suicide.
"I'm just trying to make sense of things right now and help some people who aren't doing very well," local musician Ryan Pardey told Las Vegas Weekly. "He was one of the most talented people in our community and one of my closest friends since we were 18."
Marth is survived by his parents and two siblings.
