Tonara App Offers Christmas Music for Holidays (VIDEO)
Tonara, a music-based application for the Apple iPad 1 and 2, will now feature a new collection of Christmas songs for the upcoming holiday.
Ayelet Yagil, a marketing manager of Tonara, recently spoke about the company's beginnings and the added Christmas music collection to The Christian Post.
"Tonara started in 2008 in Israel, when two PhD candidates, Yair Lavi and Evgeni Begelfor, set out to create a revolution in the sheet music industry, and to do to it what Kindle did to hardback books. Using a technology called polyphonic score following, they created the Tonara app, which is currently available only on iPad but will later be available for Android,” said Yagil.
The iPad app is ideal for amateur and professional musicians. Yagil detailed its current availability and features.
"The Tonara app can be downloaded for free at the app store, and it includes sheet music for six musical pieces. Additional music pieces are available for in-app purchasing and cost between $0.99 and $4.99,” Yagil said.
"The key feature in the app is the Tonara Magic. When switched on, the sheet music has a cursor that indicates to the musician his position in the piece. It follows his progress and flips the page for him once he gets to the end of the page. The app also includes a built-in metronome and records your playing, so you could share it with your friends through Facebook and Twitter,” Yagil continued.
Tonara plans to upgrade its music app with several beneficial add-ons.
"There are plans to develop this particular app and to add features like the ability to write down notations (imagine a conductor writing down a change in the piece and having dozens of orchestra players see the change in their iPads simultaneously)," Yagil added.
In celebration of this year's holiday festivities, the app will sport new Christmas music material.
"The app was launched in September, but next week we plan to have our very first Christmas collection, with favorites such as ‘Silent Night,’ ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas,’ "Jingle Bells’ and the ‘12 Days of Christmas,’ among many others,” Yagil explained.
"Until now, the content we had available in our store was mostly classical music. The Christmas carols bundle is the first content package in our store with traditional songs that everybody knows and loves to play," Yagil said. "The users will have the opportunity to enjoy the old and well-loved Christmas songs in a new, interactive way: Carolers can use the collection as they go singing outdoors or in services, carrying only their lightweight iPads. Families can enjoy singing and playing the songs by the piano without fiddling with music sheets and without losing their place in the song, as the Tonara cursor keeps following them."
