Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., read a damning email from a Secret Service countersniper that railed against the culture of the agency and blasted its leadership for caring most about evading responsibility.

The email, which was reported Tuesday morning by RealClearPolitics, was reportedly sent to the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service by a countersniper who vowed not to stop speaking out until "5 high-level supervisors (1 down) are either fired or removed from their current positions."

The individual, who claimed to have served in the U.S. Marine Corps for seven years and in the Secret Service for more than 20 years, predicted another assassination attempt before the election, and blamed the agency's failures and decline on leadership who refuse to listen to agents' concerns.

"The motto of the USSS... CYA. And every supervisor is doing it right now," concluded the letter, which RealClearPolitics reported was "quickly deleted" from the agency's server.

When Blackburn pressed Rowe to respond to the letter, he said he was "hurt by that email, but not in the way you think I'm saying. I'm hurt because my people are hurting right now. We need them."

"Then why did somebody delete the email?" Blackburn cut in.

"I'll get back to you on that," Rowe said.
