'Top Gear' Season 23 News: Additional New Hosts Unveiled

The engines will surely continue revving up, maybe even stronger, for "Top Gear" as the new hosts set to replace Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May after they decided to bow out of the show have finally been confirmed. Reports have named racer Sabine Schmitz, YouTube car enthusiast Chris Harris, F1 commentator Eddie Jordan, and TV presenter Rory Reid as the new hosts of the show as they join the new main hosts Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc, and The Stig for "Top Gear" season 23.

While the new set of hosts is a welcome to many car enthusiasts, not everybody shares the same sentiments. Some can't help raising their eyebrow as to the team's ability to match the sales records of former host Clarkson.

Clarkson, Hammond, and May left the show after not renewing their contracts. The triumvirate is working on a new show in Amazon, which remains untitled as of this writing. Reports had it that they were given a bigger budget and the freehand to do whatever they want for the show. It is speculated to have its debut around the time "Top Gear" season 23 makes its premiere, too.

For the loyal fans of the BBC motoring show, though, having Evans on the show is one of the best major changes that has ever happened to it. According to reports, the namesake of the actor playing "Captain America" inked a three-year deal with the show, which is expected to assume a makeover as a varied set of hosts, such as racing stars, sports, journalists, YouTube sensation, and other respected names in the motoring industry join it.

Evans announced in November last year that the reformatted show will make its debut on the small screen on May 8, just days after the scheduled filming for the show wraps up.

Meanwhile, Metro U.K. reported that there is a possibility for the upcoming "Top Gear" show to move from BBC Two to BBC One and get a prime slot on a Sunday.

Its premiere is expected to have, at least, five million viewers glued to their TV screens.
