Video footage has revealed tractor trailers that have been ripped from the ground and thrown through the air. Mobile homes also suffered from serious damage. Other two story homes have been ripped down as well, with more damage likely to be reported.

Family members who live in the area have also reported on the situation to their loved ones. "My husband is working there and my daughter lives there she says it is terrible please pray for my family," Julia Chiles Chrestman wrote on Dallas Fort Worth's local NBC station blog.

One woman reached out, asking for prayers. "Mom & Dad are in the Glen Heights area and saw the tornado. Took shelter in the closet. Now the warning siren just came back on. Pray that everyone will be ok," Monica Hunter wrote.

One study reveals that the more frequent occurrence of tornadoes is no surprise as experts have increased the area in which the risk of tornadoes is high.

"New analysis by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association shows that these storms are probably increasing in frequency, and the region of the country where they strike is growing as well," USA Today reported.

Airports and public transportation in the Dallas area have been temporarily suspended. The local NBC station reported that the storm was "the nightmare scenario we've always feared."
