Tornado Watch: Kentucky Residents Fearful Amid Multiple Twisters

Frightened residents in Kentucky have been taking to Twitter to express their fear as multiple tornados rocked several Southern and Midwestern states Friday afternoon.

Tornado warnings were issued Friday morning in Alabama, Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Several warnings remain in effect in Tennessee.

The fears brewing this week proved to be very much real. On March 1, Henry Margusity, weatherman for Accuweather.com, tweeted, "I am just speechless looking at the tornado parameters for Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky Friday. It's looking very bad."

The state of Kentucky has been nervously bracing for further damage as tornados struck ground Friday afternoon, heading toward Louisville around roughly 3 p.m. Several Kentucky residents took to Twitter to express their anxiety.

"The whole state of Kentucky is under a 10 tornado. Keeping everyone in my prayers #havingfaith," tweeted CodysNation.

There were currently 19 tornado warnings in six states Friday afternoon, as CNN News reports. Some meteorologists speculate that the massive number of tornados is a result of super cell storm development, which often causes several tornados to occur.

"We are going with TORCON of 10 in area ahead of where multiple tornado-producing supercells are headed for northern #Kentucky #tornado," tweeted Stu Ostro, senior meteorologist at The Weather Channel.

So far, 13 people have been killed in the Midwest and South due to multiple tornadoes, according to The Associated Press.

According to CNN meteorologist Sean Morris, the most likely window for tornadoes will be between 4 p.m. and 8 pm. ET Friday.
