'Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru' Compilation Movie Release Date: Touken Danshi to Hit Theaters with Special Recap Before Second Season Arrives
The second season of the Japanese anime series, "Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru" is coming in 2018, and in preparation for it, a compilation movie, bringing together all the highlights of the first season will be shown in select theaters on December 2017.
It was announced just recently via the series' official Twitter account that a compilation movie, titled "Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru ~Makuai Kaisouroku~ (Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru ~Interlude Reminiscences)," will be shown for two weeks to commemorate the upcoming arrival of the series' much-awaited second season.
The movie will recap the events of the first season and will once again bring to life the famous sword warriors who have previously amused audiences with the story of their cheerful lives at the Citadel. The upcoming movie will also reportedly establish the connection between the events of the first season and the upcoming second installment.

A new key visual has been released as well, featuring the sword warriors Yamatonokami Yasusada and Kashuu Kiyomitsu. The illustration was done by the series' character designer, Junichiro Taniguchi.
Additionally, a teaser trailer has been released along with the announcement that pre-sale tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Friday, Sept. 29. More information regarding advanced ticket sales and limited edition goods via Animate will be announced at a later date.
Also, as an additional treat for fans, a CD compiling the all the songs of the series will also be released. It will include a special recording of the original theme song, which will be used for the compilation movie. There will also be a Blu-ray disc that will feature the beautiful ending animated by Kamikaze Douga.
These goods will be available during the theatrical release of the compilation movie, and will officially be released on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
"Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru ~Makuai Kaisouroku~" premieres for a limited time on Friday, Dec. 1. It will run until Thursday, Dec. 14, in 21 theaters across Japan.
On the other hand, the second season is scheduled to premiere in January 2018.
