'Toy Story 4' Release Date, Spoilers & Update: Bonnie, New Adventures for the Characters
Walt Disney and Pixar are now busy working on the fourth installment of the classic hit computer-animated movie "Toy Story" and fans who have followed it from the very beginning are excited for it already. After the tear-jerker events that took place in "Toy Story 3," Disney and Pixar are just not done yet with the film. They did initially think that the movie would be a trilogy but with some new ideas that came up, director and Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter is thrilled to make "Toy Story 4."
According to the official website of D23, Lasseter said that the characters of the movie are like family to them. "We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don't want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what's gone before," Lasseter said.
He also talked about how the new idea came up. He said, "But when Andrew, Pete, Lee, and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself."
With regards to what this new idea is all about, not a lot of details were revealed but there are some hints on what the fourth sequel will be about. In a report by Movie News Guide, it revealed that "Toy Story 4" will be once again focusing on the adventures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Together, they will go on a mission to save Bo Peep who is said to have been given away.
Bo Peep and Woody's friendship may also bloom into a love story and this was confirmed by Lasseter as detailed in CNBC. The upcoming sequel is also expected to cover more about the toys' new owner, Bonnie, who was last seen in "Toy Story 3" adopting Andy's toys. This will bring in a whole new setting and most likely new characters.
"Toy Story 4" was tentatively slated to be released on June 16, 2017. The release date has since been moved to June 15, 2018 to make way for "Cars 3."
