Toys R Us Is Restocking More SNES Classic Units Starting Oct. 27
A representative from Toys R Us has confirmed that more units of the SNES Classic are hitting their shelves this week. On Oct. 27, Friday, Toys R Us will be getting new shipments of the console ahead of the release of "Super Mario Odyssey."
The NES Classic was launched in November last year and sold like hotcakes. When Nintendo released the SNES Classic last month, it suffered the same fate as its predecessor as retailers failed to keep up with the extremely high demand for the console. Shortly after the SNES Classic became available in the market, buyers feasted on it until it ran out of supply. As a result, many were unable to get their hands on the console.
Luckily, a Toys R Us representative announced earlier this week that more SNES Classic units will become available in their store shelves again starting tomorrow. According to the representative, this is in preparation for the release of the "Super Mario Odyssey" on Nintendo Switch, which has also been surrounded by hype since it was first announced.
Although Toys R Us is getting additional supply of the elusive SNES Classic, those who previously failed to get a hold of the console should not be lax because the new stocks might fly off the shelves just as quickly as the previous batch did. "Since quantities are limited, we encourage customers to get in line before doors open on Friday morning for a chance to purchase," said the Toys R Us representative.
Aside from Toys R Us, GameStop also confirmed that they would be restocking the in-demand console, albeit at a later date. "GameStop stores will be receiving limited supplies of SNES Classic systems over the next two weeks. Arrival dates will vary," said the company in a statement.
Since the "Super Mario Odyssey" is also set for release tomorrow, it remains to be seen if some retailers will join in with a shipment of SNES Classic units to go along with the new game.
Recently, Toys R Us confirmed that it would sell a Switch bundle with "Super Mario Odyssey," but that's not necessarily the case for the SNES Classic.
