Tracy Morgan Comedy Routine Anti-Gay?

NBC's hit comedy series is well known for using real-life events in its writing, and following a public scandal, Morgan's experience will now serve comedic purpose.

Thomas Roberts of MSNBC explained to the Huffington Post, "Well, you know how a lot of their episodes mirror their lives… They've incorporated [Morgan's rant] into the Tracy Jordan storyline."

Roberts, who is an openly gay anchor on the network, will make a cameo on "30 Rock" in the scene poking fun at Morgan. He continued to explain that Tina Fey's character, Liz Lemon, writes the apology for Morgan's character, Tracy Jordan.

"Liz Lemon writes an apology on the show and says he's not a homophobe, he's an idiot," Roberts said. "That offends idiots, so while NBC is being picketed by the LGBT community, now it's also being picketed by idiots led by Denise Richards. She's the leader of the idiots."

Morgan came under fire last June after delivering a controversial diatribe against gay people during a comedy show. The actor immediately retracted his statements and issued an apology.

"I want to apologize to my fans and the gay and lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville," Morgan said. "I'm not a hateful person and don't condone any kind of violence against others."

He continued, "While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends knows what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context."

Tina Fey, co-creator and writer of the series, has said that "30 Rock" is loosely based on the experiences she had while head writer of "Saturday Night Live."

"30 Rock" also stars Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer, among many others, and has earned numerous Emmy Awards as well as critical acclaim.
