'Transformers 5' Update: Mark Wahlberg To Reprise Role

There is no wonder Paramount is starting to plan how the fifth "Transformers" will go around theaters, especially now that Mark Wahlberg has confirmed his return.

In an interview with CinePOP, the Hollywood Walk of Famer finally confirmed 100 percent that he will be back for "Transformers 5." With the confirmation, it is now easier to conclude that Paramount may be in the very early stages of production.

It was also revealed earlier this year that Paramount Pictures was planning to work on the franchise double time through the creation of a "writers room," which is solely for the purpose of coming up with ideas for the upcoming sequels and spin-off films. This means that theaters won't be short of "Transformers" movies at least for the 10 years to come.

Akiva Goldsman has spearheaded the project of getting writers in the mood for brainstorming. Goldsman, not to mention, is an Academy Award winner and has worked on "The Walking Dead," "X-Men: The Last Stand," "The Incredible Hulk," and many others including series scripts.

According to Coming Soon, the joint work of people in the "writers room" finally came to view as the team has reportedly come up with good ideas for the fifth installment of "Transformers."

However, the bad news is Goldsman won't be focusing on the upcoming movie anymore since Paramount has moved him to other writer rooms, including a movie for the "G.I. Joe" franchise.

On the other hand, fans shouldn't worry since PP is obviously not letting down on providing fans with another round of thrill and fun. Whoever the company picks to take over the script is expected to follow the path that Goldsman has tread.

Meanwhile, rumors about the plot suggest that the upcoming movie may be Optimus Prime's last stand with his transforming crew. This is very bad news for the many fans who knew Optimus Prime as the leader of the band. On a positive note, his final good-bye will open doors for other members of his amazing crew to show off.

"Transformers 5" is slated for release sometime in 2017.
