'Transformers' Movie News: Bumblebee To Get His Own Movie?

Good news for "Transformers" fans as Paramamount Pictures had confirmed the fifth, sixth, and seventh installation of the movie, slated for a 2017, 2018, and 2019 showing, respectively. According to Slash Films, though, not all of these movies will be directly linked to their predecessors, as one of them will feature a spinoff for Bumblebee.

Tom Warner, head of the Transformers franchise at Hasbro, broke the good news via an investor conference call, saying:

"This summer we worked closely with a talented team of A-list screenwriters to map out the future of the Transformers cinematic universe, and as Brian announced earlier, things kick off in a major way in 2017 with the release of Transformers 5 in June. And we're working on a spin-off movie centered around Bumblebee for 2018 and the next chapter for 2019," he announced.

The planned "Bumblebee" spinoff movie will be the first for the "Transformers" series' attempt to follow the footsteps of Marvel to expand its movie universe.

Slash Films noted that rumors about Bumblebee getting his own movie started circulating in summer last year after Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner insinuated the idea, after saying that they could see stories revolving around Bumblebee and other characters. Hence, for many fans, the announcement of Warner was not really a piece of jaw-dropping news but a mere confirmation of the inkling that they had all the way.

There is no denying that Bumblebee is one of the most popular Autobots in the "Transformers" series. Originally, he was a Volkswagen Beetle in the first-generation of Hasbro's toys. However, when the character was brought to the big screen on the first "Transformer" live-action feature, he became a Chevrolet Camaro in his car form.

Meanwhile, Coming Soon has said that "Transformers 5" will revolve around the script penned by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. It noted that the fifth franchise of the film will go heads on against Gal Gadot's "Wonder Woman," as both movies have been booked for a same-day premiere. Hence, June 23, 2017 will reportedly showcase a battle between the Transformers and the Amazonian warrior princess, too, at least, in the box office.
