Transmission For Windows 10 Now Available

Windows 10 users now have another reason to be happy. The long-awaited Windows version of the BitTorrent client Transmission is now available for Windows users. According to a Tech Times report, the BitTorrent client which has been the favorite one for Mac and Linux users for the past 10 years, is finally rolling out a Windows 10 version.

The report cited several reasons why Transmission has been the preferred BitTorrent client of Mac and Linux users. Compared to those available such as BitTorrent or UTorrent, Transmission does not support ads. A no-ads arrangement with BitTorrent and UTorrent will cost about $4.95 a year. Its full-feature version is also available to download for free. When one downloads it, it only takes up 25 MB of space on a Windows PC. Encryption support is also available and lastly, it has a Web-based User Interface.

According to the software developer Mike Gelfand, who spoke to TorrentFreak about this latest development, this is because of a conversation he had with another developer who noted that Windows support was the "biggest missing feature" of the software. He also noted that there were many people who were looking to use Transmission on Windows as they were already using it on other platforms.

Tech Times reported that the Windows version of the software will have the same features and interface as the original, except for some additional features that Gelfand says will be "specific to Windows" that are not present in the other platform versions.

As there is no download link available yet on the Transmission website, the report pointed to the directory download page where users need to look for transmission-2.92-x64.msi for Windows 64-bit or transmission-2.92-x86.msi for the 32-bit edition which can be found at the bottom of the list.

Once a new version of the software is available, it will eventually show up in the download page of the Transmission website, according to the report.
