Travis Green's New Church Receives Outpouring of Celeb Support
The doors to gospel star Travis Green's church are officially open, welcoming a number of high profile people to worship during its first official Sunday service.
Among the Forward City Church Columbia, South Carolina visitors is Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin.
"@TravisGreeneTV thx for the invitation to @4wardCity today. We look forward to witnessing His many blessings on your ministry," the mayor tweeted.
Green was happy with the support and responded, "sir we are grateful that you came out to support us today. It was an honor to worship with u!"
One of Green's best friends, gospel-singer-turned-pastor William McDowell, was also in attendance to support his friend's new ministry.
"In Columbia, SC to celebrate and support my brother @TravisGreeneTV in the launch of his church Forward City Church. So excited for him!" McDowell tweeted.
Another gospel star, Michelle Williams, let the world know what a great time she had after attending the opening of Forward City Church.
"Had an awesome time in Columbia, SC celebrating the opening of @4wardcity church! @travisgreenetv I'm proud of you and thank you for being a real one," she wrote.
While some people like Christian musician JJ Hairston were not able to attend Green's church opening, Forward City still received a great deal of support on social media.
So proud of my bro @travisgreenetv! ..I couldn't be there but my son @jamesiv____ represented the family," Hairston wrote. "Looks like it was an awesome time as I knew it would be! Happy for you bro! #4wardcitychurch."
The Grammy-nominated singer known for hits like "Intentional" previously spoke to Jet Magazine about Forward City.
"Forward City just started having public gatherings this year, however, we've been pouring into leaders and training for almost two years now. God has really surrounded us with people who are like-minded who sacrifice and go as hard as we do," he revealed. "It's a huge honor to lead them."
