Trey Songz Gay Rumors Surface Over Photo; Singer Dismisses 'Lies'
Trey Songz has once again found himself at the center of recurring rumors about his sexuality and this time a viral photo of two men has left fans speculating again.
The photo in question, which shows two men caught in an intimate embrace, surfaced online shortly before Christmas and it is believed to be of a look-a-like and not of the R&B singer. However skeptical fans have refused to accept that the photo is not of Songz which recently prompted him to dismiss the rumors as "lies" via social networking site Twitter.
"On my way to Virginia to spend the holidays with my family. No senselessness, lies or hate can take away my joy. #LOVE," Songz tweeted Dec. 20.
This is not the first time that the 28-year-old award winning artist has been forced to answer questions about his sexuality.
While he admits that initially the gay rumors bothered him, Songz explained that he has since accepted that it is all a part of achieving success. The singer has made several hits including his 2009 hit "I Invented Sex" featuring Drake which was #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. He has also been nominated for a Grammy award three times.
"You know in this world today you gotta ignore ignorance and you gotta ignore stuff like that being a artist you know what I mean coz people gonna say things about me daily...its always something new about Trey Songz," Songz once told Hot 97 DJ Angela Yee. "The bigger I get the more s--- pop up...I'm so far from gay!"
Songz, who has been romantically linked to various women, split up with his girlfriend of two years, Ethiopian dancer Helen Gedlu, in 2009. He has since moved on by dating other women yet the bizarre gay rumors just won't end.
"The first I heard about it was on a blog about a year ago and I remember the actual day because I was with my manager Kevin. He said, 'Did you her about this?' He said we ignore stuff like that but I was hot (angry) because I love the ladies," Songz previously told New York radio station Power 105.1. "Just because it's written on an internet blog that has so many viewers or so many hits it doesn't make it true."
