'Trine 3' Gameplay Review: New Game Features 3D Play, Same 'Gorgeous' Graphics
The makers of the physics-based fantasy game "Trine" has announced that they will soon release the third instalment of the series called "Trine 3: Artifacts of Power." Frozenbyte made the announcement March 2, together with the release of a short trailer of the game.
The trailer features the same spectacular graphics that the game is known for since the first game of the series. Not surprisingly, it also features the same set of three characters: Zoya, the Thief; Amadeus, the Wizard and Pontius, the Knight, which is actually the reason why the game was called "Trine" in the first place.
The trailer however revealed something new, according to some gaming sites. From the usual side-scrolling action that the game employs, "Trine 3" apparently has some parts of the game utilizing 3D action. The preview also showcased the music that will go with the game.

Gameplay for "Trine 3" remains the same. Players need to switch between the three main characters quickly to complete puzzles and defeat enemies. Cooperative play is also available, where other players may join in and simultaneously control at any time any of the characters. The setting of the game is still in the same fantasy world as in the first two versions of the game: "a forsaken and ruined kingdom."
Frozenbyte announced that a PC version of the game will be released sometime this year, but indicating no definite release date. The creators have hinted also that versions of the game for consoles maybe released later.
"Trine" when it was first released for PC in 2009 won accolades for one of best games of the year and best graphics, according to some gaming websites. A sequel, "Trine 2" was released in December 2011. A remake of "Trine" called "Trine: Enchanted Kingdom" was launched in July 2014, with online multiplayer features. Since the game was created in 2009, Frozenbyte says it has sold 7 million copies of the game worldwide.
