Trista Sutter Grateful for Struggles, Happy to Share Gratitude With Others
Trista Rehn-Sutter and husband Ryan have been happily married for 10 years and have two healthy children. Yet Trista says it's the struggles in life that have made her the most grateful for what she has in life.
"It's really about gratitude, and it's told through some of my own stories and other stories I've learned about through Ryan or my mom, friends or people I've read about on the internet," Trista said of her new book "Happily Ever After: The Life-Changing Power of a Grateful Heart."
Trista and Ryan met on "The Bachelor" and are one of the few couples to actually make it to the altar, and beyond. They are both happy and have welcomed son Max and daughter Blakesley into their family. Of course, it wasn't all smiles and rainbows for the couple. They struggled with infertility for several years before Max was born. And daughter Blakesley arrived in the middle of a blizzard.
The family now participates in a gratitude moment every day in order to count their blessings and share with one another.
"We talk about our favorite part of the day every day. Actually, it's gone into favorite parts of the day because Max says, 'I love this and this and this,'" Trista told People magazine.
Trista is now working with Glory Haus to spread the idea of gratitude through posters, frames, and of course, her own book.
"In writing the book I've always been a huge gift enthusiast. We created the grateful heart collection. My favorite is the 'favorite part of the day jar.' You write down your favorite part of the day or the month [and put it in the jar]. And there's an appreciation jar, which is a good gift for a teacher," Trista said.
Trista and Ryan will soon be watching as another "Bachelor" couple ties the knot in front of live TV. Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici will say "I Do" on Sunday, January 26 on ABC's "The Bachelor: Sean and Catherine's Wedding."
