The True Detective Season Finale episode will air on Sunday night on HBO and should give a big climax to the hugely popular debut season of the series. Last week saw Matthew McConaughey claim an Oscar win for Best Actor, and that has only added to the fan base of True Detective. Many have praised his performance in this season of True Detective, with some even going as far as touting that he could win an Emmy to go with his recent Oscar.
Many fans will be disappointed that the debut season of True Detective is already coming to an end; the eight part series has been praised for being a compelling and gritty crime drama that has had fans glued to the edge of their seats.
In the final episode, Cohle (McConaughey) and Hart – played by Woody Harrelson - get an important new lead in their 17-year-old case, thanks to a detail that had been previously overlooked.
The synopsis for this weeks' season finale has included a statement saying, "An overlooked detail provides Hart and Cohle with an important new lead in their 17-year-old case"
As well as McConaughey and Harrelson, this popular first season of True Detective has also starred Michelle Monaghan, who has also won plaudits for her performance.
