Trump, Kari Lake oppose Arizona abortion ruling while pro-life leaders praise it

In a Tuesday statement, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national grassroots activist organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, described the ruling as a "major advancement in the fight for life in Arizona."
Dannenfelser called the decision an "enormous victory for unborn children and their mothers."

"We celebrate this enormous victory for unborn children and their mothers. Reinstating Arizona's pro-life law will protect more than 11,000 babies annually at all stages of pregnancy while providing an exception for the life of the mother," Dannenfelser stated. "This includes babies who have heartbeats, babies who can feel pain, and babies who can smile and suck their thumbs. Today's state Supreme Court decision is a major advancement in the fight for life in Arizona."
According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, the number of reported abortions conducted in Arizona was 11,530 in 2022 compared to 13,998 in 2021.
Dannenfelser said the ballot measure abortion proponents want to pass would force Arizonians to pay for abortions and eliminate safety standards, including parental consent and abortion facility inspections.
"Governor Hobbs and her pro-abortion allies will pour millions into deceiving the voters about the upcoming amendment that permits abortion on demand when babies can feel pain and survive outside the womb," she added. "We must defeat this extreme measure that would force Arizonans to pay for abortions and eliminate health protections for women."
