Tuesday Greets Wide Mix of Christian CDs

A wide variety of Christian albums will be released Tuesday, Mar. 19, spanning many genres for music fans.

Releases include albums from Casting Crowns, Seventh Day Slumber, Nate Sallie, Family Force Five, and Haste the Day, and a compilation disc from the "Gospel Dream" talent contest.

The Grammy Award-winning band Casting Crowns will be coming out with their Casting Crowns Gift Edition, which is a redistribution of their debut Casting Crowns album. The package includes a DVD, which will have behind-the-scenes footage of the popular band's background as well as live stage performances. The CD features three No. 1 Christian singles: "If We are the Body," "The Voice of Truth," and "Who Am I."

BEC Recordings will be releasing the fourth album, Finally Awake, for the Christian rock band Seventh Day Slumber, who has begun to emerge as a popular group in Christian music over the past years. The band is most widely known for its hit song "Ocean's From the Rain," which was the 14th most played song in 2006, according to Weekend 22, a Christian music countdown.

From Curb Records, Nate Sallie will be returning with his next Christian pop album Ruined For Ordinary. The playlist features his hit single, "Breakthrough."

One of Tuesday's more controversial releases will be from crossover Christian "crunk" group Family Force Five, who is bringing Business Up Front, Party in the Back (Diamond Edition) - a re-release of their debut album of the same name with four new songs - to stores. The band's unique sound broke ground in 2006 with "crunk," but has been debated among churches whether it is appropriate for Christian music.

Pressure the Hinges, the fourth record for Haste the Day, one of the premiere Christian metalcore bands, is slated for release under Solid State Records. A special edition of the album includes a DVD, which plays all their current music videos and contains live footage performances.

Finally, Gospel Dream features music from various amateur artists. The CD is from the television show of the same name featured on the Gospel Music Channel. It follows the same format as the popular "American Idol" program, and singers compete for a Christian recording contract.
