Tupac's Hologram to Tour With Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg?
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are considering creating a tour that would include the new Tupac hologram in the line-up, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
The publication reports that the two hip-hop legends will discuss logistics for an almost literal Tupac resurrection tour, in terms of live performance.
It could also include other popular artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and Wiz Khalifa with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg as the headliners.
The hologram was the brainchild of both Dr. Dre and Digital Domain Media Group, who began working on the project four months ago.
"This is just the beginning," Ed Ulbrich, the chief creative officer for Digital Domain Media Group Inc., told the Wall Street Journal. "Dre has a massive vision for this."
Dre first proposed the idea to the company one year ago.
"To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done," said Ulbrich.
Snoop Dogg shocked the crowd at Coachella 2012 by introducing the Tupac hologram and performing alongside it.
Before deciding to go through with project, Dr. Dre received the blessing of Afeni Shakur, Tupac Shakur's mother, and permission to use the late rapper's likeness.
Many fans of the legendary rapper- who died of gunshot wounds in September of 1996- were impressed and happy to see Tupac back on stage.
Others felt that this image of him tarnished his legacy and that he would have never approved this, especially since he was not seeing eye to eye with either Snoop Dogg or Dr. Dre shortly before his passing.
Tupac Shakur is one of the most successful musicians of all time, selling over 75 million records worldwide.
He was also a respected actor staring in films such as "Juice," "Poetic Justice," "Gang Related" and "Above the Rim."
